Police Station Advice

If you have the misfortune to be arrested, it can be a most traumatic experience. We are available to give you immediate advice by telephone and can attend at the police station at any time - we have an out of hours service so that we can be contacted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Whatever the reason the police want to talk to you, whether you have been arrested or have attended the police station voluntarily, it is always advisable that you get some proper legal advice before any interview. Remember, what you say to the police will almost certainly be referred to in court if you are charged with an offence. It is therefore vital that you understand how what you say may affect your case at a later stage.

Advice at police stations is not means tested, and is always paid for by the government under the legal aid scheme. Whatever you may be told, we can be at a police station within a short time. There is therefore no good reason not to call us.

Representation at the Magistrates' Court

We deal with all types of case at the Magistrates' Courts. It may be that you face the loss of your driving licence (and possibly even your livelihood). We can advise you on how you may be able to save your licence and represent you in court to give you the very best chance. You may have been charged with something you just did not do, and we can help you secure your acquittal at trial. Or it may be that you have done something you regret, and you need a friendly face to help you out of the mess. Legal aid is often available, and so contact us for some advice.

Representation at the Crown Court

Not all solicitors are able to appear before the Crown Court in person - those who can are accredited by the Solicitors' Regulation Authority. We have five Higher Court Advocates, as they are called - more than any other firm in Wigan. This means that if your case has to be heard in the Crown Court for any reason, we may be able to represent you there in person. If not, we will make sure that we secure the services of the best barristers to ensure that you are represented to the highest standards.
